Liverpool Hope University libraries are designed with accessibility in mind. The Sheppard-Worlock Library is fully accessible with wheelchair access throughout, a lift to reach the first floor if you cannot use stairs, a low-level section at the Library Help Point for wheelchair users, a hearing induction loop at the Help Point (mobile loops are available for other areas), and accessible study spaces containing PCs loaded with accessibility software. In addition, library staff are available to retrieve books from shelves if needed.

Accessible Study Suites

The university provides two Accessible Study Suites, one on each campus. The PCs in these suites contain accessibility tools and software.

  • At Hope Park, the Accessible Study Suite sits in the Sheppard Worlock Library and is located on the ground floor near Special Collections. You will need your ID card to enter this space.
  • The Accessible Study Suite at Creative Campus is located in room CAP210 of the Capstone Building.

Entry to the suites is through a power-assist door, and they are equipped with height-adjustable desks and PCs loaded with accessibility software, including JAWS, Inspirations, Read & Write, ZoomText, Dragon, and Kurzweil. There is also CCTV available to enlarge text.

Students with a Learning Support Plan can book these specialist spaces up to one week in advance by emailing learningsupport@hope.ac.uk or askalibrarian@hope.ac.uk.

Accessible Private Study Rooms

Accessibility software is also available in some of the library's private study rooms.

  • Private Study Room 004 on the ground floor of the Sheppard Worlock Library has a PC with JAWS, Inspirations, Read & Write, ZoomText, Dragon, and Kurzweil. There is a large screen monitor, scanner, and CCTV available in this room. This room can be booked at the Library Help Point.
  • Private Study Room 105 on the first floor of the Sheppard Worlock Library has a PC with Inspirations, ZoomText, Dragon, Read & Write, and Kurzweil. This room can also be booked at the Library Help Point. The library lift can be used to reach the first floor.
  • Private Study Spaces 005 and 006 on the ground floor of the library have PCs containing Inspirations, Kurzweil and Read & Write. These rooms are available on the online booking system.

If you have any questions about these accessible study spaces, email askalibrarian@hope.ac.uk or visit the Help Desk in any library location.
