How long can I borrow a book for?
Answer
Most books in the library can be borrowed for two weeks at a time. A 2-week loan book automatically renews at the end of the two weeks unless another library user has requested it, in which case you need to return it. This continues for a maximum of 14 weeks from the day you borrow the book.
Some of our books have shorter loans times, and have stickers on them to tell you how long they can be borrowed for. 7-day loans operate in the same way as normal loans and auto-renew every week up to 14 weeks unless requested by another library user. 24-hour and 48-hour loans do not auto-renew and need to be renewed manually. You can renew books at self-service machines in the library or by logging into your Library Account in OneSearch (see: 'How do I access 'My Account' in OneSearch?'). You can also contact library staff in person, by email at askalibrarian@hope.ac.uk, or by telephone on 0151 291 2000 for assistance with renewing a book. If you do not renew these short loans, you will receive a fine of £1 per day and your account will be temporarily blocked after 5 days, which will stop you borrowing more books.
