Where is the Cornerstone Library?

The Cornerstone Library is located in the Cornerstone Building at Liverpool Hope University's Creative Campus. The Creative Campus address is:​

Getting to the Creative Campus

The Creative Campus is conveniently located less than a mile from Liverpool's main railway station, Liverpool Lime Street, making it easily accessible by foot or public transport. If you're traveling by bus from the city centre (Queen Square Bus Station), several routes serve the area:​

  • Buses 21 and 345 travel along Shaw Street and stop directly in front of the Creative Campus​

  • Buses 12, 13, 14, 14a, 14b, and 19a stop on Islington near Staples, which is just a two-minute walk from the campus​

  • Buses 13, 17, 18, 21, 23, and 101 also provide access to the area​

If you're driving, the Creative Campus is accessible via the M62 and M56 motorways. From the Wallasey Tunnel (Kingsway), follow signs toward Scotland Road/Byrom Street, then turn left onto Shaw Street at the second set of traffic lights. The venue is approximately 100 yards on the left-hand side, opposite The Collegiate.​

Limited on-site parking is available at the Creative Campus.​

About the Cornerstone Library

The Cornerstone Library is one of two small satellite libraries at the Creative Campus (the other being the Capstone Library). Both libraries support students studying creative and performing arts subjects including Fine Art, Music, Drama, and Dance.​

The Cornerstone Building is a beautiful Grade II listed building that houses various facilities including the Cornerstone Library, the Cornerstone Gallery (an exhibition space for contemporary art), and the impressive Great Hall with its double-height vaulted ceiling. The building also features creative spaces such as studios, kilns, workshops, and metalwork studios.​

Opening Hours and Contact

During term time:

  • Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • Saturday and Sunday: CLOSED​​

Library staff are available at the Help Point from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on weekdays.​

Additional Facilities

The Cornerstone Building also houses the Student Success Zone, which is open 24 hours a day during term time. This space contains PCs, printing facilities, plenty of room for group study, and comfortable seating areas.​

On the ground floor, you'll find Café 1846, a spacious open-plan café and meeting area offering a range of coffees, teas, cold drinks, cakes, sandwiches, toasties, and paninis.​

Additional Support

If the Cornerstone Library doesn't have a specific book you need, you can request for it to be transferred from the main Sheppard-Worlock Library at Hope Park campus, ensuring you have access to the full range of library resources. A free shuttle bus runs between the Creative Campus and Hope Park Campus during term time, making it easy to travel between the two sites if needed.​
